In this poem by Mujeeb Jaihoon, a lover pleads with his adamant beloved to let go of anger and reconcile with his desire.
When out of anger,
Your fiery cheeks shiver
With greater wonder,
Will I further adore
As much as your eyes
Burn in fury,
Your heart shall know:
I’m terribly sorry.
Remain not, my love, too long
In this stubborn state,
For, it may stain
Your Him-loving heart,
Just as the bitter-gourd plant
Turns the sweet honey taint.
